
演讲内容:Carrier Ethernet: From Concept to Certification This session will be given by Bob Mandeville, President of Iometrix, the first test laboratory endorsed by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) to test and certify Carrier Ethernet systems and services. Mr. Mandeville, as Editor of the MEF Test Technical Specifications, will give a detailed review of the technical specifications of the MEF and focus on the Certification Program which is a key step for the MEF in its mission to facilitate the provision of consistent Carrier Ethernet services worldwide. Mr. Mandeville will review the fundamental Ethernet services definitions and explain how the MEF developed a services-oriented testing methodology to help vendors, service providers and subscribers asses the conformance, performance and service quality of Carrier Ethernet services.

演讲人介绍:Mr. Mandeville is President and founder of Iometrix, an industry-recognized laboratory for the testing of computer networking hardware and software equipment. Prior to founding Iometrix, Mr. Mandeville was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CQOS Inc. from 1999 to 2002. Before that he was the founder and director of European Network Laboratories (ENL) based in Paris, France.
He played a major role in establishing ENL as the authoritative organization for independent testing in the communications industry. Under his leadership ENL won and successsfully executed major networking contracts with the World Health Organization, the European Commission in Bruxelles and Luxembourg, the Government of Belgium, the French Electricity Board and several global financial and banking institutions. ENL test reports also reached a worldwide readership of 800,000 industry specialists. ENL‘s vendor-independent tests of internetworking equipment were regularly published from 1991 in nine European countries and from 1994 in Data Communications’ US, International and Asia-Pacific editions. The Computer Press Association honored ENL‘s industry-first nationwide test of seven major U.S. ISP’s with its “Best of the Year” award.
Mr. Mandeville is an active member of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which is responsible for the definition and approval of communications standards for the Internet. Mr. Mandeville‘s notable accomplishments include authoring and receiving ratification from the IETF for the networking industry’s switch testing specifications RFCs 2285 and 2998.
The networking community also knows Mr. Mandeville through his networking conference tours organized by Data Communications magazine. In 1998-99 Mr. Mandeville was featured as principle speaker at a series of seminars for IT managers of large corporate and service provider networks, held in sites throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia. He is currently chairing a series of on-line seminars and live seminars in the USA, Europe and Asia on Metro Ethernet and 802.11 Wireless Networking as Ethernet Director of LightReading, the prominent optical networking publication. Mr. Mandeville recently co-ordinated the Metro Ethernet Forum SuperDemo 2003 at SuperComm in Atlanta, designing and implementing the largest Metro Ethernet interoperability demonstration ever comprising equipment from 28 equipment vendors. Mr. Mandeville is also Editor of Test Methods for the Metro Ethernet Forum Techincal Committee.
Prior to founding ENL, Mr. Mandeville taught economics at the University of Paris. His education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brock University in St. Catharines, Canada, a Masters degree from the Sorbonne in Paris, France and a DEA degree from the University of Paris VIII.
